A Year and a Day

By Amy

A year ago yesterday, I touched down at JFK airport after a long flight from Heathrow. I was back in the States for the first time since early January, and it had been about nine months since I'd packed up everything and left San Francisco bound for Peru. I couldn't believe The Trip was finally over.

Now, it's hard to believe a year has passed, but a lot has happened since then—I moved to L.A., started freelancing, made some new friends and reacquainted with old ones, took a few trips to San Francisco and one to San Antonio, visited San Diego a few times, went home for the holidays, revisited the Grand Canyon, left L.A., said goodbye to friends across California and revisited Yosemite, then drove across the country with lots of great stops to see friends and sights along the way. And here I am at mom and dad's in New Jersey, right back where I started a year ago! Just like then, I can't believe I'm really here, and just like then, I'm confident that lots of grand adventures await.

Thanks! I'm really happy with it—I keep checking it just to admire my work! It's amazing the difference a few tweaks can make.
